How to create a coupon

The goal of the coupon is to allow a discount to be used through a code that is entered in a specific field of the cart. A coupon can only be used within a regular promotion.

To link a coupon to a promotion, simply use the same utm_source and/or utm_campaign. A promotion that is restricted to coupons will always use these parameters, and its through them that the coupon will be linked to the promotion.

How to create a coupon

To create a coupon, follow these steps:

  1. Access the Pricing module;
  2. Access the Coupon tab;
  3. Click on New Coupon;
  4. Fill out the fields;
  5. Click on Save.

Fields

  • Coupon code: coupon activation code. There's no character limit, however do not use special characters (letters, numbers and dashes only).
  • utm_source: sources utm.
  • utm_campaign: campaigns utm.
  • Restrictions and limitations of use: number of products that can be purchased with this coupon, regardless of how many purchases are made to reach this number.

When a purchase is made within a limited promotion, and this purchase is canceled, this use of the promotion becomes valid again.

How to archive

To disable a coupon, you need to file it. To do so, simply open the coupon and click on Archive.

Example:

You need to create a promotion campaign and release it in a newsletter. However, it is desired that the promotion becomes enabled only through a code that will be in the email. Step by step of the creation of this scenario is shown below.

  1. Create the regular promotion;
  2. Assign a utm_source and/or utm_campaign to it;
  3. Create a new coupon, and use the same utm_source and/or utm_campaign
  4. Copy the coupon code to the newsletter;
  5. The promotion will only be activated in the shopping cart when the customer enters the Discount coupon and confirms!

Remember! It would also be possible to create the newsletter link straight with the utm_source and utm_campaign, dismissing the use of the coupon.
